QPR’s Paul Smyth made a dream debut for Northern Ireland, scoring a late winner against South Korea immediately after coming on as a substitute.
The 2-1 victory in a friendly at Windsor Park came after the home side had been behind.
Smyth’s QPR’s team-mate Conor Washington was involved in the 86th-minute goal.
Washington found the 20-year-old forward, who turned and fired into the roof of the net.
It enhanced the growing reputation of Smyth, who was signed from Linfield last summer and scored on his QPR debut earlier this year.
And the youngster is determined to keep progressing and eventually play the highest level.
“I went on there and just tried to run as much as I can. I enjoyed every minute of it,” Smyth said.
“I want to go as big as I can. I’ve always had a target to get as far as I can.
“I don’t want to settle here (what he has achieved so far), I want to push on and try and get to the Premier League one day.”
