Ainsworth rues refereeing decisions after QPR defeat
QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth bemoaned two key refereeing decisions going against his side in their 3-1 home defeat by Coventry.
Ainsworth felt Ellis Simms’ opening goal should have been disallowed for offside.
And shortly after the Sky Blues’ second goal, Rangers were incensed when they were not awarded a penalty despite Sinclair Armstrong being upended by keeper Ben Wilson.
Ainsworth said: “The officiating today, in my opinion, wasn’t good enough for the Championship. There was an offside goal and an absolute stonewall penalty.
“I’ve been in to see the officials and they know (the decisions were wrong). They’ve almost apologised and that’s great, but that doesn’t change the result.
“I’m gutted at my lads seeming to collapse. Maybe the offside goal really dented them, but we were then wide open on two counter-attacks for the other two goals.
“But at 2-0, Sinclair’s penalty is a stonewaller and if that gets us back in the game then I think we go on and get something.”
Rangers, who were among the pre-season favourites for relegation, have won just once at home in almost a year.
Ainsworth has faced criticism and his team are in the drop zone after nine matches.
They were denied a first-half lead by Wilson superbly keeping out Lyndon Dykes’ header, but conceded three times in the space of 12 minutes after the interval.
Kenneth Paal netted a consolation in stoppage time – the wing-back’s third goal of the season, making him Rangers’ top scorer.
“I’m not stupid – a 3-1 defeat at home is not good enough. I’m sure the haters will be out there loving this one, but there’s a bit more of a story to it,” Ainsworth said.
“But we’ve got to be better at home. We’ve got to put away the chances that we had in the first half.
“We were the better team in the first half and for all the world I didn’t see that coming in the second half. But we have to test their keeper more.
“We haven’t looked threatening enough. After all the territory and all the possession we must be better than that going forward.
“We didn’t take our chances and that was the story of the game, although the officials played a big part too.”

Time to go Gareth we need to stop the rot ,there is still time to change things before it’s too late, can’t see things going to get any better any time soon with the negatively around the club 36 games to go

The manager is on a hiding to nothing. No budget to spend and his squad simply does not have enough class.
The problems lie at board level. Years of financial mismanagement, paying old has Beens massive wages. We will be relegated, but have no one to blame but ourselves.

Yes, Im sorry to say it but I think its time for him to rock off into the sunset. I asked some time back, whether we would manage to get into double figures by Christmas, in my book, we could maybe only win once more with the ‘odd draw’? by then, losing all the rest. So we should just about achieve that dizzy statistic with a bit of luck. Bottom of the league by then too probably.
FFP apart, when I look at the likes of Brentford and Luton who have achieved the impossible, I wonder why we seem incapable of doing likewise.

As a manager, you shouldn’t be focusing on what ‘the haters’ are thinking, you should be getting your players to play football.

‘My lads, 20 minutes where they collapsed’
‘We must be better than that’
Then he completely changes it to:
‘We’ve given our best this week’.
You don’t ever give your best if you collapse for 20 minutes of 90, as that’s nearly a quarter of the game.
All he does is offer one excuse after another, but then can’t even stick to the same excuses.
Decisions go against ever team on the planet at times, but he seems to think it only happens to us every game we play in.
I don’t hate him, I never will, but many managers can’t step up divisions & do the job in hand & he is one of them, time to go!
The longer he stays, the worse our plight will be.

Gareth. QPR fans are NOT haters, but we will complain when we see our club being badly managed. Take a good hard look at yourself sometime.
