Goals from Jordan Hugill and Ebere Eze gave QPR a dream start to Mark Warburton’s reign as manager. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-1 win at Stoke.
Rangers had a let-off after the keeper totally misjudged a late ball into his area. Will need to do better to continue keeping summer signing Liam Kelly out of the team.
Solid enough at right-back in the absence of recent arrival Todd Kane, who is building up his match fitness.
A fine display from the R’s captain, who looked sharp and best to his best after a long struggle with injury. Defended well and was composed on the ball.
A fine debut for the former Brentford man, who showed exactly why he was signed. Faultless throughout and always looked to play the ball out from the back.
Continues to look the part at left-back and also did well when moved into midfield in the second half. A couple of brilliant challenges were the highlights of an excellent all-round performance.
Picked up space well and showed some nice touches on his debut before being taken off in the second half.
Instrumental in the win against the side he recently left to join the R’s. Involved in the build-up to both the visitors’ goals and pulled the strings in midfield throughout.
Poor in a first half in which he gave the ball away sloppily, picked up a yellow card and missed a great chance to score, heading wide from Rangel’s cross. He atoned somewhat in the second half and played his part in a battling team display.
Will this turn out to be the season Osayi-Samuel comes of age? The signs were good as he destroyed James McClean on the right-hand side and always looked a threat. Set up the opening goal for Hugill.
A joy to watch when in full flow and his brilliant goal showed what he’s capable. Breezed past two challenges and finished with class. Cracking stuff.
A perfect start for the on-loan West Ham striker, who scored just eight minutes into his debut. Aside from that tap in, he was generally excellent. Linked play well, constantly occupied defenders and always gave Rangers an outlet up front.
Neat and tidy after being brought for his debut midway through the second half.
Full of running after coming on, while Toni Leistner did exactly what he was brought on as a later substitute for, winning crucial aerial challenges as Stoke pushed for an equaliser.
