Charlton boss Bowyer touted for QPR job

Newspaper speculation regarding the manager’s job at QPR…

Charlton have lined up Lee Clark as a replacement if Lee Bowyer leaves for QPR, The Sun say.

It comes after the Evening Standard claimed that Rangers have sounded out Bowyer and that he is in the running to take over at Loftus Road.

The Sun reckon former Newcastle midfielder Clark has therefore been identified as a potential new manager by the Addicks.

The Times have reported that Tim Sherwood has concerns about taking over at QPR.

West London Sport revealed on Monday that Sherwood, Gary Rowett, Mark Warburton and Michael Appleton are the initial front-runners for the job and that Rangers plan to make a quick appointment.

Sherwood is the long-standing first choice of Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand, who previously worked with him at Tottenham and wanted him to be installed as Harry Redknapp’s replacement in 2015.

The Times reported that Rangers have spoken to Sherwood but that he has reservations because of the club’s difficult financial position.

The newspaper claimed that John Eustace, placed in charge of the first team following the sacking of Steve McClaren, could stay in the interim role until the end of the season.

  • Well said Martin, Ive tended to ease off on promoting Ollie too much for fear of bias. But who else has more passion for QPR or could do any better. Its a no brainer really for me.

  • couldnt agree more as indeed most of those hard core 12 to 13 Thousand of us who have been Supporters for the last 50 plus Years are sick and tired of telling our inept Board Oh for a Jim Gregory R.I.P. What a Giant of a Chairman N

  • If Ollie is still receiving payments from Q.P.R. for being sacked last year then surely we should bring him back even if it is temporary. It sounds like he has unfinished business to attend too with us Q.P.R. He has always worn the badge with PRIDE. He loves the club. No one can disagree with that. The thought of getting Tim Sherwood would in my opinion be a STEP BACKWARDS. There appears to be a large number of supporters saying just this. One Name Not Mentioned is Garry Monk. Like a few names mentioned he has worked wonders at a number of his clubs. With financial limitations he has made the club better. He brings in young players (tick). His style of football is pleasing to the eye (tick). He does not complain about results not going his way because of the lack of (tick). All of these Tim Sherwood would complain about. Let Fulham take Tim Sherwood. Expect Fulham to have money available for next season. this is what Tim Sherwood likes. He will bring in a number of players who will destroy the fabric of the club. You only have to look at Aston Villa. Give Ollie a call. Try sounding out Ian Bowyer , Gary Rowlett , Gary Monk. Any manager that will bring in players from the clubs Under 21's , 18's etc.

  • If Sherwood gets the job I will seriously consider supporting Brentford (and THATS saying something) what a joke of a club we are becoming. Hughes, Redknapp, JFH, McC - how many more old hasbeens are we prepared to take on before we finally wake up and get a decent manager (AND keep him)?

  • This situation could rapidly turn into a farce (just like parliament has). Just get us a first class manager, stick with him, get stability and crack on. If it means senior management have to go, then so be it. Who rubber stamped Ollie going to be replacced by McC? - maybe we should start a clear out from there.
