Ebere Eze marked his first league start for QPR by scoring the winner at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 1-0 victory against bottom side Sunderland.
A quiet afternoon for the QPR keeper as the visitors failed to threaten.
A solid display. He showed plenty of intent in the final third, as well as offering an assured presence at the back. Furlong also nearly scored with a header in the second half.
Produced an excellent saving block after his own error gave Sunderland the chance to break. Other than that, it was a relatively comfortable game for the QPR captain.
Rarely tested before being withdrawn at half-time because of an injury.
A mixed display. Produced some surging runs forward and timely interventions but was sloppy with the ball at times.
A quiet game for the hardworking midfielder, who did his job in front of the back four.
Moved the ball around the pitch well and showed his tenacity on a number of occasions. Almost got to an early cross from Furlong.
Didn’t make much of an impact until he sprung into life in the final third of the game, when he created chances for Matt Smith. Freeman was guilty of losing possession in some potentially dangerous areas though.
Handed his first league start and responded with first goal for QPR. It was a goal all of his making, after driving forward and confidently finishing past former R’s keeper Lee Camp. Eze’s goal capped a fine all-round performance.
Another bright game from Smyth, whose willingness to run caused problems for the Sunderland defence on a number occasions, not least in the build-up to keeper Jason Steele’s sending off.
Kept the Sunderland centre-backs busy and nearly scored with a second-half header.
Brought on for Robinson at half-time and while rarely fully tested, Lynch was a calming presence in the final 10 minutes as Sunderland pushed forward.
Nearly sealed the win with a curling effort that Camp did well to palm away. A lively cameo.
