QPR v Sheffield United player ratings

Sheffield United came from behind to win at Loftus Road, condemning QPR to a second loss in as many matches under boss Steve McClaren. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player.

Matt Ingram: 6

His poor kicking early in the game led to some very nervy moments. He wasn’t helped by his back four, who continually passed to his weaker foot. Ingram made a couple of good saves, though, including a fine stop to deny Leon Clarke early in the second half.

Osman Kakay: 7

Full of youthful exuberance and desire, but sometimes a little too hasty at the back. However, his work going forward was particularly impressive.

Toni Leistner: 7

Looks a strong character in the heart of the QPR defence and the German got through a lot of work. Unlucky to be on the losing side.

Joel Lynch: 6

Lucky to see a poor defensive lapse go unpunished in the second half, but the referee’s whistle saved his blushes. A tough afternoon for the defender.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Much like Kakay, Bidwell was impressive going foward, but found the going much tougher further back, as he was too often left isolated.

Josh Scowen: 6

Covered a lot of ground in the middle of the park and tried hard to shield the R’s backline.

Massimo Luongo: 6

Worked hard and nearly scored on a couple of occasions, but Luongo couldn’t control the game as the visitors’ midfield dominated possession for large spells.

Luke Freeman: 7

An excellent first half from Freeman, as he drifted in and out of useful positions both on and off the ball. But he faded a little in the second half and was less of an influence.

Ebere Eze: 7

After forcing keeper Dean Henderson into two good early saves, it was third time lucky for Eze who scored QPR’s first goal of the season with a sweetly struck first-time effort. He nearly had a second with a couple of second-half efforts.

Paul Smyth: 6

Worked exceptionally hard on the right flank, but his footwork let him down on occasions. Smyth was replaced at half-time.

Idrissa Sylla: 6

Preferred to Matt Smith as QPR’s lone striker, but the Guinean didn’t make a great deal of his chance to lead the attack. Often with his back to goal, Sylla rarely theatened. Replaced with 20 minutes to go.

Bright Osayi-Samuel: 6

Last week’s half-time withdrawal was this week’s half-time replacement, brought on to replace Smyth at the break. A couple of nice touches aside, he was unable to make an impact on the game.

Matt Smith: 6

Also unable to make much of an impact on the game as QPR searched for an equaliser.
