QPR loanee Sam McCallum is facing another significant spell on the sidelines after reinjuring his hamstring.
The wing-back, who has impressed since joining on loan from Norwich, was forced out of Friday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the opening half-hour of the game with recurrence of the injury he first sustained in the 2-1 loss against Bristol City in September.
And centre-back Jordy de Wijs will be out until after next week's international break after he suffered a calf problem, also early on in Friday's game.
"Sam could be out for a good few weeks, Jordy not so long," Rangers boss Mark Warburton said.
"I hope with Jordy it's a low-grade injury, but neither player will play ahead of the international break next week.
"All I can say at the moment is that it will be at least a couple of weeks for Sam given the way he walked off the pitch.
"I am not a medical mind, but that is just from experience.
"I'l be speaking with the doctor and finding out what the scans say."
Rangers hope Lee Wallace will soon return from his own hamstring problem, but in the meantime their options on the left flank will be limited.
In-form striker Lyndon Dykes is fighting to be fit to face Cardiff on Wednesday, with the Scotland international to be given as long as possible to prove his fitness.
“Lyndon is touch and go. We’ll see how he is,” Warburton said.
“He was with the medical team yesterday and was in a moonboot, but that was purely precautionary.
"We have just got to see how he is and how the inflammation calms down so it may be about seeing how he is tomorrow.
“He will get treatment at the hotel, not that we are going to risk him as we will always look after the players, but let’s see how he is in the next 24 hours.”
