QPR are just seven points above the relegation zone after losing at home to third-from-bottom Rotherham. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-1 defeat.
There wasn’t a lot the QPR keeper could have done to prevent either Rotherham goal and he was generally sound in terms of catching and distribution, setting up some promising attacks for Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Recovered from a couple of early slips but, with the injury-time clock ticking down, he gave away an untidy free-kick that earned him a booking and enabled Semi Ajayi to head the winner.
Although the Rangers captain was caught out occasionally, he put in a tidy display overall and his storming run into the Rotherham half created an excellent opening for Osayi-Samuel with the score at 0-0.
Predictably enough, Lynch was at his best when the visitors pumped balls into the box and less comfortable when they played it on the ground, with Michael Smith turning him on more than one occasion.
Defensively, Bidwell was solid enough and he got forward to good effect, deceiving the Rotherham defence with one cross that should have resulted in an equaliser – and then initiating the move that actually did.
The winger’s pace and touch caused problems for Joe Mattock, who was booked for bringing him down and, despite wasting one opportunity after Leistner played him through, he stayed composed to grab his next one and level the score.
Restored to a central midfield role, Cousins failed to make much impact and gave the ball away too often – so it was no surprise when he was taken off 20 minutes from the end.
Luongo’s vision created two early chances for Tomer Hemed and he also got stuck in when required, not to mention clearing the ball from under his own crossbar as the home defence wobbled early in the second half.
By his standards, Freeman looked subdued at times but he created some promising openings that his team-mates failed to capitalise on – notably an inviting free-kick that Hemed headed wide.
A patchy performance from Eze, who did have a couple of scoring opportunities but fired the first straight at Marek Rodak and then scuffed a much harder chance wide early in the second half.
Although it needed Rodak’s quick reaction to deny Hemed early on, the striker squandered a good opportunity from Freeman’s free-kick and never put Rotherham’s defence under sustained pressure.
Having replaced Hemed for the final 20 minutes, Wells failed to make the most of Rangers’ best opportunity, pouncing on Bidwell’s cross only to stab the ball fractionally wide of the open goal.
The winger was brought on alongside Wells, with Cousins making way for him, and brought some energy and enthusiasm to the QPR front line with a couple of jinking runs.
Given just 10 minutes as a substitute but that was sufficient time to make a nuisance of himself and supply the low cross for Osayi-Samuel to grab Rangers’ equaliser.

Marks are very generous. Unfortunately furlong stupid lazy foul cost us the game. Hemed missed easy header, Wells missed when should have been on target. Cousins short passing terrible. Eze needs to do his stuff up the pitch not in the easy places. No leadership on the pitch. Bright Samuel lively as were subs. McLaren too slow to change again.
