Boost for QPR as Furlong returns to action

QPR defender Darnell Furlong has returned to action following injury.

Furlong played 45 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly against West Ham on Thursday.

It was his first outing since he suffered knee injury during a pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon in July.

Rangers hope he will be available for first-team selection soon after the international break.

Bidwell boost

Meanwhile, Jake Bidwell could resume training next week after scans revealed a shoulder injury he suffered against Derby is not as serious as initially feared.

The former Brentford defender was taken off after half an hour of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Derby at Loftus Road.

Manager Steve McClaren initially suggested the injury looked serious and could keep Bidwell sidelined well after the international break.

Jordan Cousins, who went off against Derby with an ankle problem, is also expected to make a quick return to training.

QPR’s head of medical services Dr Imtiaz Ahmad told the club website: “Jake injured his left shoulder and Jordan suffered an injury to his left ankle.

“I am pleased to report both are responding well to treatment and improving every day.

“We are aiming for them to resume with the training group next week.”
