Transfer gossip: Sun claim QPR could look to re-sign Taarabt
Some of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…
Reports in Portugal say Adel Taarabt could be on the way of Benfica – and that has led The Sun to suggest he could return to QPR.
Portuguese newspaper Record have reported that Taarabt, now 29, will be allowed to leave Benfica on loan in January.
The Sun therefore speculate that he could return to the Championship and that QPR could be interested in re-signing him.
Is there any truth in it?
Rangers have shown no sign of interest in Taarabt, who was the star of the club’s 2011 promotion-winning side.
Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri is planning a January move for Leicester’s record signing Islam Slimani, the Daily Telegraph say.
Fulham boss Ranieri is being tipped to spend when the transfer window reopens next month.
The Telegraph say he wants to bring in striker Slimani, who previously played under Ranieri at Leicester and is currently on a season-long loan at Fenerbahce.
The Algeria international has scored just one league goal since his move and the Turkish club are reported to be willing to cut the loan deal short.
The Daily Mail say Fulham have made an enquiry about Deportivo La Coruna’s 19-year-old Portuguese striker Pedro Martelo.
And Chelsea continue to be linked with Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj.
The Mail believe the Blues have held talks with Napoli about signing the Albania international.
It is claimed that Chelsea could agree the deal in January but allow him to stay in Italy for the rest of the season.
Hysaj, who previously played under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, has been touted as a replacement for the out-of-favour Davide Zappacosta at Stamford Bridge.
The Mail say Lazio are interested in signing Zappacosta, who has been unable to establish himself as a first-team player at Chelsea.

If this happened, we would need our heads examined.
