Hall confident he will not need surgery

QPR defender Grant Hall believes he has finally banished the threat of knee surgery following his unexpected comeback against Leeds.

Hall’s persistent injury kept him out for eight months and it was feared he might need an operation.

That would have ruled him out for the rest of the campaign – but Hall is confident his injury saga is now behind him.

“Hopefully the issue with my knee is sorted,” he told West London Sport.

“It feels the best it’s felt in months, so I’m hoping that’s it for me now.

“Surgery’s a last resort for me. I tried injections and that didn’t work, I tried rehab in the gym and that didn’t work. I’ve been close to coming back and then broken down.

“But I’ve seen a specialist about eight times and he seems to have fixed the issue, so I’m hoping surgery’s not going to be required now at all.

“I’m in a really good place now and I’m really happy.

“I’m still being careful with it, taking things day by day, but I’ve got to build up match time and get fit again.

“Hopefully I can be involved and do that over the next couple of weeks.”

The 26-year-old had only resumed full training a few days prior to his comeback, when he replaced Josh Scowen for the final 15 minutes of Rangers’ 3-1 defeat against Leeds.

He added: “I knew I’d be involved in the squad but I didn’t know whether I’d be on the bench and it was nice to get the call.

“It felt strange to be back. To be honest, I was a little bit nervous when I came on – it was like the first time I played for QPR.”

Scowen injury fears allayed

QPR boss Ian Holloway insisted Scowen was not substituted against Leeds because of an injury.

Midfielder Scowen picked up a knock and appeared to be struggling before being replaced.

However, asked if Scowen had suffered a significant injury, Holloway said: “No, I was going to try and get Hally on there.

“He (Scowen) had just taken two knocks and it doesn’t matter who you are, you’ve got to come off and sacrifice for the team if that’s needed and he’ll know that.”
