Boost for QPR as Johnson returns to action

Striker Andy Johnson returned to action with a lively performance for QPR’s Under-21 side on Tuesday afternoon.

The 32-year old has been struggling with a knee injury for the last two months but put in a tireless display before being substituted in the 72nd minute.

Javier Chevanton – who scored twice – and Matt Phillips also featured for Rangers in a 4-0 win against Brentford at Loftus Road.

Mike Petrasso opened the scoring with a curling effort from just inside the area after playing a neat one-two with recent signing Chevanton.

And the Canadian got his second shortly before half-time when he was found unmarked by Johnson at the far post.

Johnson was again involved for Rangers when his defence-splitting pass was latched onto by Chevanton, who fired low past keeper Jack Bonham.

The rout was completed late on when good play from Phillips allowed Chevanton to tap into an empty net.
