Goals from Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison gave Leeds a deserved win and put them top of the Championship.
Harrison set up the opener six minutes before half-time, cutting inside and finding Roberts, who fired into the bottom corner.
Leeds had been on top and Mateusz Klich missed a great chance for them, volleying over after being found unmarked by Luke Ayling’s cross.
Rangers keeper Liam Kelly pushed away a shot from Stuart Dallas and denied Patrick Bamford after the striker had been put through on goal.
But Kelly could do nothing when Roberts was given space just inside the penalty area and took full advantage.
QPR, yet to keep a clean sheet this season, were mostly on the back foot but almost snatched an equaliser just before half-time when Nahki Wells’ cross-come-shot just evaded Jordan Hugill.
In the second half, Hugill was unable to find the target when found by Todd Kane’s cross.
And there was no way back for the visitors once Harrison netted with eight minutes remaining.
As Harrison attempted a one-two, a challenge from Marc Pugh inadvertently resulted in the ball returning to the Leeds winger, who slotted past Kelly.
QPR: Kelly, Rangel, Leistner (Kane 54), Hall, Wallace, Manning, Ball, Chair (Pugh 63), Eze, Hugill, Wells (Mlakar 72).
Subs not used: Lumley, Amos, Scowen, Osayi-Samuel.

We're 9th they are top - what else did we expect?
Think back to the start of the season (or even last season) - are we better now than then?
