QPR were beaten by Millwall in a fiery derby at The Den, where boss Ian Holloway received a hostile reception against his former club. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 1-0 defeat.
Unable to prevent Steve Morison heading home Jed Wallace’s cross. Did manage to deal with other high balls into his box and produced a first-half save with his legs to deny George Saville.
Sloppy on the ball at times but mostly defended well and also set up a decent chance for Jake Bidwell, whose header from Baptiste’s cross was saved by keeper Jordan Archer.
Rescued by Grant Hall, who produced a brilliant block after Lee Gregory turned away from the Rangers captain, but overall Onuoha had a reasonably good game at the heart of the defence.
Did well on his return to the starting line-up, denying Gregory in the first half during a composed display on the left of the back three. There was no sign of rustiness and Hall could be a key player for Rangers during the second half of the season.
Had a decent first half, when he threatened at times on the right flank and set up a half-chance for Bright Osayi-Samuel. He started the second half poorly though and was taken off after Millwall’s goal.
Competed well in midfield, where he certainly had to battle against a determined home side. Not at his best though.
Caught out of position at times and ran out of steam in the second half, but for an hour or so he produced an encouraging display in his favoured central position. But Rangers did miss the suspended Josh Scowen.
Produced a lovely bit of skill in the first half when he evaded two challenges and very nearly found Osayi-Samuel. Always looked Rangers’ most creative player and served up a last-minute corner from which Matt Smith headed wide.
Battled hard on the left. Might have done better with a first-half chance when his header was saved.
“They took their chance and we missed ours. Matt Smith had a good one and so did Jake Bidwell. It was all about the first goal and we couldn’t get it. They did and after that we huffed and puffed.” – Ian Holloway
Arguably unfortunate to be taken off. His pace and movement stretched Millwall’s defence but Rangers were unable to take advantage.
Faded after a lively start, during which he was unable to react quickly enough when the ball dropped to him in the box.
Brought on in the second half to provide an aerial threat but failed to do so. When he eventually won a header he directed it wide from Freeman’s corner in the final minute.
Brought on for his senior debut and showed plenty of enthusiasm but was unable to make an impact. Neither was David Wheeler when too was brought on.
