Barbet scores last-gasp QPR winner
Yoann Barbet’s last-gasp goal gave QPR a dramatic victory at Ashton Gate.
Alex Scott gave the hosts an early lead, Charlie Austin equalised with a penalty in first-half stoppage time, and Bristol City’s Andy King was sent off 11 minutes into the second half.
And Barbet won it with a fabulous header into the far corner of the net from Stefan Johansen’s right-wing corner.
Rangers, without the injured Ilias Chair, went behind in only the third minute.
After Chris Willock had lost possession, Jimmy Dunne’s attempt to avert the danger led to him deflecting the ball towards Scott – and Dunne’s attempt to block Scott’s shot led to him deflecting it beyond keeper Seny Dieng.
QPR were well below par but found themselves level at the interval after Austin thumped home from the spot following Cameron Pring’s foul on Luke Amos.
Boss Mark Warburton made an attacking change, bringing striker Lyndon Dykes on for Lee Wallace, soon after King was dismissed for a second bookable offence for pulling down Johansen.
The visitors struggled to create chances but their persistence was eventually rewarded.
They remain seventh in the Championship table, a point behind sixth-placed Huddersfield but having played two fewer matches than the Yorkshire side.
QPR: Dieng; Dickie, Dunne, Barbet; Adomah, Field, Johansen, Amos (Thomas 86), Wallace (Dykes 60); Willock; Austin.
Subs not used: Archer, Kakay, Ball.
