QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is today attempting to seal the signing of defender Rolando from Porto.
The Portugal international, 27, has rejected previous approaches from Rangers, both since Harry Redknapp took over as manager and when Mark Hughes was in charge.
Some progress appears to have been made and it is believed a lucrative offer could lure Rolando to west London before this week’s transfer deadline.
Redknapp said: “He’s a good player but it’s a difficult deal to do. I’ve left it to Tony to try and deal with it. It’s out of my hands now.
“I met the boy and had a good chat and he was great, but it’s up to the chairman – the finances are down to the chairman and chief executive. Let them go and do the deal.”
