QPR are still assessing Jordan Cousins’ injury but believe the problem might not be as serious as previously feared.
Cousins, whose contract expires this summer, was stretchered off during Saturday’s home defeat against Blackburn.
It was initially believed he had suffered a long-term knee injury.
That might not now be the case, although he has suffered some ankle ligament damage.
Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, QPR’s head of medical services, told the club website: “Jordan was in a lot of pain but thankfully that subsided.
“His knee and ankle were both cause for concern initially. His knee is OK and while he has sustained ankle ligament damage, I am pleased to say it is not as serious as first feared.
“Jordan is already off the crutches and out of the protective boot.
“We are hopeful he will be available to return to training before the end of the season.”
