Richard Dunne is fully fit and ready for QPR’s play-off campaign, captain Clint Hill has insisted.
The two players formed a solid central-defensive partnership for much of the season but the 34-year-old Irishman’s form has dipped in recent weeks.
Dunne was rested for last weekend’s win at Barnsley, having made 42 appearances for the R’s this term – significantly more than was anticipated when he was signed last summer after leaving Aston Villa following the best part of a year out injured.
“He’s had a couple of weeks now to recuperate. He’s been training and he looks sharp,” said Hill.
“He’s been great since the first day he came in. His experience in the top flight was second to none, he’s a good character and a fighter.
“He’s been brilliant throughout the season. I don’t think even he thought that he’d play this many games.”
Hill was himself rested for the Barnsley match, giving him more time to fully recover from a recent virus.
“As a player you might want to rest but as soon as you’ve had that rest you think ‘I wish I’d played now’. You just want to keep playing and playing,” he said.
