QPR beaten by late goal at Doncaster
Doncaster 2 QPR 1
Paul Quinn’s last-minute goal condemned QPR to defeat at the Keepmoat Stadium after Charlie Austin had put them in front.
Austin’s goal – his ninth of the season – came courtesy of a mistake by Rovers’ former Chelsea goalkeeper Ross Turnbull.
Rangers broke and Jermaine Jenas lost control of the ball but it rolled to Austin – and Turnbull allowed the striker’s shot to squirm through his hands and into the net.
The visitors had looked comfortable up to that point, with Matt Phillips, Niko Kranjcar and Gary O’Neil missing decent chances to put them ahead.
Phillips went close to doubling the lead early in the second half before Rovers equalised with a fine strike from Theo Robinson, who curled his shot beyond keeper Rob Green and into the far corner.
R’s boss Harry Redknapp switched to two up front, sending Andy Johnson on in place of O’Neil.
His team continued to press and went close to regaining the lead when Clint Hill fired inches over.
But it was Doncaster who dug out a winner, Quinn heading home Mark Duffy’s late corner to give them a shock victory.
