Cousins makes debut as QPR draw at Northampton
New signing Jordan Cousins made his debut for QPR as their pre-season campaign continued with a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Northampton Town.
Midfielder Cousins came on as a half-time substitute at Sixfields, where Nasser El Khayati scored with a right-footed shot from near the left-hand edge of the penalty area with 10 minutes remaining.
Alex Revell fired home an 87th-minute equaliser for the Cobblers after drifting in behind the Rangers defence.
Earlier, R’s skipper Nedum Onuoha blasted over from close range after Sebastian Polter had headed down Ben Gladwin’s right-wing free-kick.
Onuoha also missed a chance to restore his team’s lead in injury time when he scuffed his shot straight into the arms of keeper Adam Smith after being teed up by Massimo Luongo.
None of QPR’s three other summer signings featured.
Jake Bidwell sat the game out along with Joel Lynch, who has been nursing a hamstring strain.
Ariel Borysiuk, meanwhile, faces six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
On a brighter note for Rangers, keeper Alex Smithies returned to action following a recent injury.
