Clause means Spurs can recall Assou-Ekotto
QPR could lose Benoit Assou-Ekotto following Tottenham’s sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
The left-back joined Rangers on a season-long loan after being frozen out at White Hart Lane by the former Chelsea boss.
There has been speculation that he could therefore make a sooner-than-expected return to the north London club now Villas-Boas has gone.
And there is an agreement in the loan deal enabling Spurs to recall him in January if they choose to.
Assou-Ekotto, 29, has made 14 appearances for Rangers since his arrival at Loftus Road in September.
Villas-Boas was shown the door in the wake of Sunday’s 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
The defeat was Tottenham’s worst at home for 16 years and left them seventh in the table – eight points behind leaders Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Sunderland have made an approach for QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Benoit was just too good for the likes of QPR anyway. There must have been a very special circumstance for him to have moved there in the first place. It was too good to last.
Well, at least QPR still has Ale Faurlin, the cure all to whatever that ails. The ultimate man-meat for men who dare not name their desires.
