Ramsey: No-one should doubt I’m the right man for QPR

Chris Ramsey insists he is the right manager for QPR – and that no-one ought to doubt it.

Ramsey was handed a three-year contract and a mandate to rebuild the club despite being unable to save Rangers from relegation last season after inheriting a dispirited, ageing squad.

The Championship campaign began with a 2-0 defeat at Charlton on Saturday.

But Ramsey is adamant giving him the job was the correct decision.

“I can’t believe that’s even a question at this stage of the game. Yes, I’m the right man for the job,” he declared.

Ramsey says he is determined to build a much more resilient side than the one which conceded a number of late goals and produced timid performances on their way to relegation from the top flight last season.

He is also keen to introduce a more fluid style of play, with Rangers having resorted to a direct approach as they tried in vain to stay up.

“Last season we lost maybe five games after the 80th minute and we want to make sure that doesn’t happen this year,” he said.

“You’re hoping that the characters you bring in do have that resilience so we do go to the 95th minute making sure we do secure points.

“This year we’re also going to be a lot more attractive than we were in parts last year, when we had a small squad and the personnel warranted a certain style of football.”
