Leeds United 1 QPR 1

Substitute Tjaronn Chery’s 87th-minute penalty rescued a point for QPR at Elland Road.

Rangers lost Jamie Mackie to what appeared to be another hamstring injury, and Chris Wood put Leeds ahead on the hour mark.

But after Sebastian Polter, who came on for Mackie, drew a foul from Giuseppe Bellusci on the left of the penalty area, Chery thumped home from the spot – the Dutch midfielder’s six goal in his last nine matches.

Mackie, who missed more than three months of the season with a hamstring problem, went off midway through the first half.

Both sides struggled to create chances before Luke Murphy chipped the ball into the box and Wood drifted between Gabriele Angella and James Perch to head the hosts in front.

Rangers failed to seriously trouble 19-year-old goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell for most of his senior debut for Leeds.

The youngster comfortably gathered a first-half shot from Junior Hoilett and saw an effort from Matt Phillips miss the target.

He later saved a low shot from Conor Washington, who was substituted late on and is still awaiting his first QPR goal.

Chery, on the other hand, has had no problems finding the net. His goal was his 10th of the season.

QPR: Smithies; Onuoha, Angella, Hall, Perch; Phillips, Faurlin, Luongo, Hoilett (Chery 73); Mackie (Polter 25), Washington (El Khayati 80).
Subs not used: Ingram, Robinson, Henry, Gladwin.
