QPR’s Chair facing lengthy spell out

Ilias Chair is facing several more weeks on the sidelines with a back injury, QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes has admitted.

Rangers are keen to play down the extent of the problem, but the injury – bone bruising in the lower back – can take around 10 weeks to heal.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers feared Chair would be out for a lengthy spell and that he was due to be assessed on Friday.

And Cifuentes explained after the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United: “Perhaps we thought it could be less aggressive, but unfortunately it’s a lower back issue that will keep him away for some more weeks.

“I said we were waiting for some tests – and unfortunately the tests showed the development is more or less as we expected.

“I’m always optimistic and thought it might be a faster process, but the reality is that it’s a bone bruise and it takes time.”
