Cesar backed by Redknapp after QPR defeat
QPR boss Harry Redknapp defended Julio Cesar following the 4-1 defeat at Swansea.
The Brazilian goalkeeper was culpable as bottom-of-the-table Rangers slumped to their first league loss of 2013.
But Redknapp pointed out that Cesar has been nursing a groin injury and had been in excellent form.
“Our keeper has been fantastic – probably as good as any goalie in the league,” he said.
“He played with a groin strain. He felt he was okay, but obviously he wasn’t at his best.
“In the previous five games he has played well, but he had a bad day. That’s how it goes.”
The result was a major blow to Rangers’ hopes of escaping the drop.
But Redknapp declared: “We have got to keep on believing. If you give up, then what chance have you got?
“We have 12 games left and have to win as many as we can. I would say we have to win at least six.”
