Mark Warburton has dismissed reports linking West Ham with QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng.
It was claimed that the east London club are planning £6m move for Dieng, who has impressed this season.
Hammers boss David Moyes has been tipped to sign a new keeper this summer, while Dieng’s form has led to speculation that a Premier League club might come in for the Senegal international.
But Rangers manager Warburton said: “If you wanted to do something, would you go and put it in the papers?
“Where does this come from? Where do these figures come from?
“I’m sure David Moyes and West Ham would go about their business in a far more professional manner if they had an interest in the player.
“The validity of that source is questionable at best, I think. Put it that way.
“And the bigger picture; if any player leaves it will be for QPR’s valuation. Everyone’s got a price. The best player the world has a price if you’re prepared to pay it.
“If any player leaves QPR it will be if the board deem it to be good value for the club.”
Dieng, 26, has been outstanding since leapfrogging Liam Kelly and Joe Lumley to become QPR’s first-choice keeper.
The futures of both Lumley and Kelly are uncertain.
Lumley’s contract expires this summer, while Kelly is on loan at Motherwell, who are keen to keep him.
Warburton brought in Kelly from Livingston on a four-year deal after taking over at Loftus Road in 2019 and had high hopes for the Scot - but Dieng had other ideas.
Warburton said: “You know what I think of Liam. He’s a very good keeper and a great personality - good character on and off the pitch.
“He’s gone to Scotland because he wants to play games and he’s shown his quality.
“He’s a really talented goalkeeper but frustrated at Seny’s good form and was not playing football.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Liam and for his ability.”
