Boost for QPR as Helguson gets green light
QPR forward Heidar Helguson has been given the all-clear to return to full training.
The Icelander, Rangers’ top scorer this season with nine goals, has been sidelined since being taken off during the FA Cup defeat against Chelsea at the end of January.
He had been nursing a groin problem for much of the season and was forced out of action after the condition worsened.
But a specialist has told Helguson he can step up his rehabilitation ahead of a planned return to the first team.
Fellow striker DJ Campbell resumed full training last week following a hamstring injury.
Their recoveries could be timely for Rangers given that Djibril Ciise is suspended again after being sent off during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Sunderland.
