QPR assistant manager Kevin Bond said Armand Traore’s failure to take an early second-half chance was “the key moment” in a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Leeds.
Traore fired straight at keeper Jack Butland in an even game at Loftus Road, where Jermaine Jenas’ equaliser a minute before the interval earned Rangers a point.
It ended a three-match losing run but they again looked unimpressive and continue to stumble in the race for automatic promotion.
“We’re not happy with a point but it was a fair result, to be truthful. It was a game of few chances, as many of our games have been,” said Bond.
“The key moment was in the first minute of the second half when we got one-on-one with the keeper. We needed to take that.”
Jenas levelled following an early goal by Ross McCormack, who earlier had a penalty saved by Rob Green.
Richard Dunne was adjudged to have fouled striker McCormack – a decision which initially seemed harsh.
But Bond admitted: “I thought he [Dunne] absolutely got a touch of the ball but having seen it again, it was absolutely a penalty.
“I was calling the referee all sorts of names but from what I’ve seen of it I don’t think Richard got any touch to the ball.”
