Blow for Dunne but Austin fears are allayed
QPR defender Richard Dunne could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury but Charlie Austin is set to make a swift return.
Dunne, 35, went off during Saturday’s defeat against Southampton and is expected to be unavailable for around three months after a scan revealed medial ligament damage.
Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha is likely to be out for three to four weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in the same game, but fears Austin could be out for a lengthy spell have been allayed.
Striker Austin left Loftus Road on crutches after the match and Rangers initially thought he may have broken a bone in his foot.
Austin in fact suffered bruising and will miss Tuesday’s trip to Sunderland but is expected to be available for the visit to Hull on 21 February.
