QPR yet again went out of the League Cup in dismal fashion against lower-division opposition. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-0 defeat at Blackpool.
Might have done better when half-clearing a high ball in the build up to Blackpool’s first goal, but his overall display on his return to the side was more than acceptable. He produced a couple of decent saves and looked more confident as the game went on.
Full of running on the right, but often lacked direction. Unfortunately, did nothing to discredit the decision to sign Angel Rangel or to play Alex Baptiste ahead of him on Saturday.
Like Kakay on the opposite flank, the young left-back tried hard but not much went right for him.
One of the few Rangers players to emerge from the night with any credit. Did well against his former club and helped keep the score down.
Also deserves some credit, given that this was only his second appearance of the season. Got through the full 90 minutes and defended well for the most part.
Sent off for a second yellow card following a silly foul and a confrontation off the ball. Not what Rangers wanted from one of their more experienced players on a night several youngsters played – and neither was Cousins’ performance up to that point.
Another established player who let Rangers down. Picked up a silly early booking and was rightly taken off after 25 minutes having escaped a second yellow card for another foul. Plain daft.
Replaced by Paul Smyth at the interval after being totally unable to make any kind of impact in the first half.
Offered nothing of note at all against his former club before being taken off with 13 minutes remaining.
Warrants some credit for tireless running. But there was very little quality to his work.
Isolated up front and lacked the movement or poise to create something for himself.
On for Scowen, Goss did OK on his return to the side. Tried to create and produced the odd nice pass.
Similar to the likes of Kakay, Hamalainen and Wszolek, he ran a lot but made virtually no impact after coming on. Neither did Aramide Oteh, who played the final 13 minutes.
