Blackpool 0 QPR 2
Matt Phillips proved the scourge of his former club as he scored one and made the second to fire QPR back to the top of the Championship.
The winger put Rangers in front just after the hour mark with a shot too hot for former team-mate Matt Gilkes.
He then provided a cross converted by Charlie Austin as Harry Redknapp’s men got their reward for their second-half endeavour.
Earlier they’d been indebted to goalkeeper Rob Green for keeping Blackpool at bay as he denied Steven Davies and Craig Cathcart in the first half and Tom Ince just after the break.
Rangers weathered the pressure and began to take a hold on the game, with Phillips providing the spark.
He netted the opening goal on 62 minutes when his shot from around 25 yards defeated Gilkes.
The Blackpool keeper denied Phillips a second moments later after the fleet-of-foot attacker had latched on to Joey Barton’s pass.
But Phillips continued to be instrumental and set up Rangers second when his cross from the right flank was headed home by the predatory Austin.
Blackpool failed to recover from that double blow and Rangers held out comfortably to return to the summit.
