Blackpool look to seal Campbell loan deal
Blackpool are still trying to finalise a deal to re-sign DJ Campbell on loan from QPR.
The striker, who left Bloomfield Road to join the R’s last year, is not in manager Mark Hughes’ plans and has been told he can leave.
Former Rangers boss Ian Holloway is keen to take Campbell back to the north-west, where he scored 13 goals during Blackpool’s season in the Premier League.
Campbell’s current wages meant Holloway initially doubted he would be able to land the 30-year-old, but significant progress was made last week and an agreement is almost in place.
“There’s been progress but nothing really definite,” Hughes told West London Sport.
“I’m sure he will go out on loan and it will benefit him, but at the moment I don’t think it’s imminent.”
Rangers recently accepted an offer from Bristol City for Campbell but he was reluctant to make the move.
Hughes added: “DJ’s a good player and things have been a bit difficult for him.
“But I made a decision early on that the likelihood was that he wouldn’t be able to get into my team, simply because of the options I have.”
