Veteran striker Craig Bellamy is being widely linked with a move from Liverpool to QPR following comments made by Amit Bhatia.
Welshman Bellamy, 33, has previously played under R’s boss Mark Hughes for club and country and is interested in a move to the capital.
He is one of a host of players Rangers identified in May as a possible summer signing and has been considered as a potential back-up option should the club be unable to land other targets, which include Junior Hoilett.
Rangers are expected to formally complete the signing of the out-of-contract Hoilett shortly, with a tribunal likely to decide how much they will pay Blackburn for him.
Hughes’ predecessor Neil Warnock came close to signing Bellamy from Manchester City last summer.
Bellamy then indicated that he would have been keen to make the switch had Liverpool not made a late move for him, leaving Rangers believing they could bring him to west London in the future should he fail to secure a first-team place at Anfield.
“Craig is definitely a name that has been mentioned, a name we’ve discussed. There are a few options,” QPR vice-chairman Bhatia told Sky Sports News.
“We have been a fan of Craig Bellamy for the last few years, ever since he became available – that’s not to say we have not been fans of other players.
“Many names have been tossed about, and who Mark settles on eventually will be his [choice] and we’ll do our best to support him.”
