QPR board reluctant to bring in Benayoun
QPR’s board are reluctant to sanction a deal for Yossi Benayoun.
The 33-year-old Israeli, a free agent since leaving Chelsea at the end of last season, trained with Rangers last week and would like an 18-month contract.
Harry Redknapp opened talks on Friday and wants to sign him but the club’s board are much less keen, primarily because of Benayoun’s age.
Redknapp was also left frustrated during the summer when chief executive Philip Beard blocked the manager’s proposed signing of former England full-back Wayne Bridge, who joined Reading.
Having made his name in the Premier League with West Ham, Benayoun was at Liverpool before a £5m move to Chelsea in 2010.
He managed only one league start in a three-year spell with the Blues, during which he was loaned to West Ham and Arsenal.

We are desperate for another striker. Austin is playing alone up front, we should have 2 up front at home especially to make our possession levels count and be banging in the goals. 1-0 victories will turn into 2-1 defeats like Doncaster as it is too close, we need to be scoring more so do not need another midfielder but a decent centre forward for the remainder of the season. Anyone for Defoe??

Do we really need another midfielder and for that an ex Chelsea one on high wages most likely? A big no thanks from me.
Yes I agree that Austin has been good but what if he gets injured, what does that leave us with up front? An unproven Chevanton who as you say has not had much game time. AJ has been good when fit but looks likely to be off in Jan and with his glass knees another possible sick note. Bobby is not likely to be ready untill the end of this season so another doubt, not that he ever banged them in for us in the first place.
I would like to have seen Hitchcock stay but now on loan until the end of this season and we would be mad not to sell Remy as we will get a great return, his stock is high at the moment.
We can’t try and copy Barcelona with false number nines as our already crowded midfield is not as good and never will be.
As for Adel I don’t want to see him ware the hoops again. Yes he was great for us in our championship winning season but would disrupt the dressing room with his childish attitude to training ect. Good luck to him at Fulham I say.

Austin has 9 goals to his name this season so far. He is great, but that is still not every game. Sorry to be anal retentive, but that is the true stat.
AJ is probably off to some other Club come January. He trains sparingly, and is to be deployed sparingly. Andy crocked is something we won’t risk.
Chevanton came on as a late sub ONCE, that I can recall, and was on the pitch for about 10 minutes or so. I don’t know what the story there is but I am not sure if he is all that fit. I get a sense he is the last resort, should AJ crock up.
Zamora has long been ruled out with long term injury issues, and is just coming back from a major operation. He won’t be pitch-ready for a while, sidelined with Faurlin, long term. When he did play before his latest injury he played more as a hold up man, and not so much as a striker.
Hitchcock is out on a loan! Just recently had his first game, I believe. And the coaches clearly sent him out on a loan for a reason, and it is probably because it will help him in the long run.
Adel is a midfielder and not a striker. He probably will not return to QPR, at least this season.
Remy is not returning to the Club either.
He really and truly will not.
He will play at a Champions League club soon.
So, YES I THINK WE SHOULD SIGN A STRIKER.
And a damn good one too, so we can hang in PL.
We need a top top striker, and possibly a young spare, if there is anyone special out there that would make sense and fit into what we have got going on, or perhaps one of our second team lads would step up by next season. But we need at least one proven Premiership quality striker not known to crock up often or easily.

Sign a striker?
Austin scores every game. It is the midfield that is failing to score.
Anyway the club already has five strikers Austin/AJ/Cheva/Zamora/Hitchcock at the club and two more Adel and Remy on loan.
QPR have a total of 7 strikers which is more than enough for a championship club without adding even more.

Good, looks like the board have finally learnt there lesson. We need younger players looking to prove themselves. A striker must be top of our wish list right now.
