Ben Haim given thumbs-up by Redknapp after QPR debut
Harry Redknapp backed Tal Ben Haim after the defender’s QPR debut in the 1-1 draw against West Brom.
The former Chelsea and Portsmouth man, recently signed following a trial, played at left-back because Armand Traore was not fit and Rangers do not have permission to field the on-loan Fabio in the FA Cup.
R’s boss Redknapp explained: “I played Tal Ben Haim at left-back and he’s a right-sided player who was completely on the wrong side – I knew that.
“I didn’t have any left-backs – one was injured and one couldn’t play in the cup – so that was a problem.
“It left us with an imbalance really, as Adel Taarabt drifts off inside so he [Ben Haim] was left on that left-hand side on his own.”
Meanwhile, Ryan Nelsen looks set to quit QPR to take a job in the United States.
