Austin ‘touch and go’ for Watford game

QPR fear top scorer Charlie Austin could miss Sunday’s game against Watford.

A hamstring problem ruled Austin out of the Boxing Day clash at Nottingham Forest, where Rangers were beaten 2-0 – their second successive defeat.

And the striker, whose condition will be assessed on Friday, could also be unavailable for the trip to Vicarage Road.

“We’ll continue to monitor it, but it’s touch and go at this stage,” admitted QPR assistant boss Kevin Bond.

“We looked at him before the game tonight but he just wasn’t right. It was a blow for us.”

Austin was certainly missed at the City Ground, where Bobby Zamora returned to the side for his first appearance since knee surgery in September.

Greg Halford put the home team ahead during a first half in which Rangers were dismal, and Andy Reid made it 2-0 in the 80th minute

“The damage was done in the first half,” Bond said.

“They got after us and stopped us playing. We never laid a glove on them in the first half.

“The second goal was a consequence of us chasing the game. The damage was done before that.”

  • This was yet another poor performance and there have been many this season.
Lack of ability to generate any chances for the forwards.
The midfield lame and devoid of any creativity.
Our left back needs replacing bad attitude and again will not chase back.
Clint Hill such a good work horse but Onuha is so much more mobile.
Carol is ineffective so is Hoillet.
    Must get better quick.
