Adomah move could mean QPR miss out on Reach

QPR look like failing in an attempt to land Middlesbrough winger Adam Reach because Aston Villa are set to sign Albert Adomah from the Teesside club.

Rangers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is an admirer of Reach, 23, and wants to sign him ahead of the transfer deadline.

But on Wednesday morning it appeared that Boro intend to keep Reach because another wide-man, Adomah, is on his way out of the Riverside Stadium.

QPR have shown an interest in Adomah too, both in January when discussing a potential swap deal involving Matt Phillips, who has since joined West Brom, and more recently.

Former Harrow Borough player Adomah, 28, indicated that he wanted to stay in the Premier League.

Now he is set for a move to the Championship, with Villa having agreed a deal to sign him.

In any case, Adomah’s wage demands meant a move to Loftus Road was never a realistic outcome.

Rangers were optimistic of agreeing a deal to sign Reach as well as Polish winger Paweł Wszołek, who looks increasingly likely to move to west London.

But as things stood on Wednesday morning, Reach, who spent most of last season on loan at Preston, looked likely to stay put.
