Angry Hughes insists Arsenal winner should not have stood

QPR manager Mark Hughes insisted Arsenal’s goal in their 1-0 victory over his side should not have stood and that Stephane Mbia made “minimal contact” with Thomas Vermaelen before being sent off.

Mikel Arteta scored a late winner for the Gunners three minutes after Mbia had been dismissed for kicking out following a challenge from Vermaelen.

Hughes suggested Rangers were in control of the match before being reduced to 10 men and that Arteta’s goal was an injustice.

He said: “I’ve seen it and Arteta is offside twice. He’s offside for the initial header that Julio Cesar saves and then in the melee he’s in an offside position.

“How the referee hasn’t given that decision to us I don’t know. I asked him for an explanation and he said something about Ryan Nelsen being off the field of play so playing everyone onside.”

Hughes, whose team remain bottom of the table without a league win this season, added: “The sending-off was disappointing because we were given the initial free-kick.

“I don’t think Stephane was aware of that. He then put his leg out. There was minimal contact. It’s hard to take because we were in control of the game.

“Prior to the sending-off I made a couple of positive substitutions because I thought we were the more likely team to win the game.

“Apart from Santi Cazorla, when he blazed the ball over, I can’t remember Arsenal having too many chances.

“We didn’t come here to try and shut up shop. We played two up front as I felt there were areas of Arsenal’s team we could get at.

“It was a good, professional performance, but again we’ve not got our reward.”

  • Not only are we rooted against by the usual suspects, but in this curious case of QPR, its own so called FANS root against its individual players and its manager, and some even root FOR relegation. There are even some that fondly recall the days when they had no expectations nor aspirations other than just good drunken brawling time. I guess that is when the average joe felt himself more of a presence? That is "The Mentality" surrounding the club right now. IT IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM, at least for this new fan.

Just a cursory look through various QPR messageboards, for the first time today, got me pretty hot and bothered. They openly, and persistently, abuse and malign and impugn their own individual players, to the point of carrying on various "campaigns" against them. Maybe it is the lofty and hallowed club's Tradition, but I think it sucks. It is a culture of abuse and ignorance. It is mindset of RUIN, of failure. It is also BAD KARMA. Self-respecting sports fans worked up enough to exchange incoherent insults on messageboards should at least know about KARMA. You are creating KRAP KARMA, with all the maledictions you spout.

I have no monetary stake in the club, don't bet, and only represent my own single and singular view. And I am telling you, the so called fans and legends and experts of the club need to get their heads shrunk and UNDERSTAND that are the club talents' satellites who should be supportive of their own team. Some of the hangers on have LONG BEEN NO FANS AT ALL but energy drains and inspiration sappers. So much hatred and violence in their minds ... and ignorance. Just sheer ignorance.

QPR the squad gets pummeled by QPR the squad.
QPR the club suffers at the hands of its own mob-fans.
Anyone see any cause and effect anywhere?

Those calling for proper leadership on and off the pitch are the very same ones who are leading the lemming brigade. This schtick has not worked. And never will. I don't care just what geniuses and experts you think you are. I don't care how much money you have amassed. I don't care how many people you fool in your professional lives. You've been using QPR as an outlet for dark, destructive things.

It is unfair to those actually trying to find solutions and give it their damned best. In their place, I would start fantasizing many and varied ways I could sabotage the results, out of spite, lying awake at night fuming and nursing my damaged body. I am beginning to understand the less than enthusiastic spirit of the players earlier on. Totally understandable.

Dear PLAYERS, please don't get discouraged. The ones who are littering all over the net are not the majority of your fans. Most of us are not like that. Think of the rest of us, the majority, who actually do support you and wish you the best. You want to tell them to take a walk and find a club more worthy of them and their indispensable services? (Apparently they don't want to grow, they are tired of hoping, they liked things just the way they were among their tiny set of fans where they anointed themselves XI, without the new faces on and off the pitch. And god knows what else it is they want. I certainly don't give a flying rat's sphincter.) You want to flip them one? FIGHT FOR YOUR OWN CAREER, by fighting with your brothers on the pitch. Move up so fast on the table they won't be able to follow you. QPR games are extremely entertaining, you guys are each brilliant, and you've got EVERYTHING to fight for.

Get results, get success, and you will shrink their idiotic heads. And perhaps be lucky enough to lose them, since an influx of fans gets their knickers all twisted. And not all of us are crazy. Not yet. Remember, you don't play for them. You play for your careers, your daddyo of a manager, and those who do really do appreciate you. I have looked into each of your career paths, your specialties, where you've been, and how you find yourselves at QPR. You are each a unique gem, and I will not only support you now but will follow you throughout the rest of your careers. You may not suspect it, but you are becoming heroes to many who may not have heard of you before. You have much to be proud of. When you play with pride there is no shame, and it is the only road to long term success. When you see and hear awful stuff, don't get angry. Just move faster, and leave them in your wake. Speed kills. Goals cover a myriad of sins. And ALWAYS stick with your father and brothers, against EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING. You have no friends on the pitch. Only your father and brothers. Stand together with pride.

  • Face it. We are being picked on. The FOX analysts have been more like giggling schoolboys. The prematch banter consists of writing QPR off, laughing at its chances. The halftime has them with their eyes agog, embarrassed at their earlier levity, mumbling on our quality. At the wrap up they chortle and scold like crows, choking on schadenfreude. Typical gravitas of Murdoch minions. As for the referees, even AT HOME we get rogered. Why do I sense we are openly and gleefully rooted against?

I personally think they are intimidated, because they KNOW we can scalp anyone, and should have been collecting them already. They talk as if we are done for, as if we just don't have the will or strength. We gave a damn good account of ourselves against ManCity. I thought we were the better side against Chelsea. We dominated Everton, even before they were down a man. I think they are laughing because QPR beats QPR. Nobody else.

QPR players, THEY ARE AFRAID OF YOU.
Make it impossible to keep denying you.

Jisung and the assassins, track back. Stephane, expect crappy calls and YOU change that. Every individual defender can be proud of his performance today. I even saw brilliance. Team, concentrate. Your individual and collective TRIUMPHS are just a short burst of concentration away. Bust through that thin barrier and start learning from your successes. The momentum is with us. Shut out the outside noise and listen to the rumblings within you. ESCAPE VELOCITY, baby. We won't be contained for long.

Esteban, grow your sexy hair back please!

The rest of you sexybeasts, go forth and wreak havoc, since all your coifs are just right. You are a band of bromancing ASSASSINS. No mercy. That goal there you see, imagine it as your "favorite" critic's mouth. What do you do to such an orifice? That referee you see there, assume he sired all of your opponents, and use your judgment accordingly. The guys you are shaking hands with? They told eveyone you needed male-enhancement pills. And slapped your cat. And insulted your girlfriend's accessorizing abilities. They want to look up MY petticoat! Stop them.
