QPR reject attempts to take Thomas on loan

Mark Warburton says QPR have rejected approaches to take George Thomas on loan.

Thomas is behind the likes of Ilias Chair and Chris Willock in the pecking order at Rangers.

The Wales international, 24, has started just five Championship matches for the club since being signed last summer.

But manager Warburton insists Thomas is very much part of his plans.

Warburton said: “He had a lot of involvement towards the end of last season and if you look at how we play, in terms of Chris and Ilias, George is right there with them - at Middlesbrough we played all three of them.

“He provides energy, quality and he’s got that lovely ability to run beyond defenders as well.

“I’ve had a lot of enquires; will we let George out on loan? Absolutely not. He’s got a big role to play for us this season.”

QPR ready to loan out Masterson

Warburton has confirmed that clubs have been showing an interest in taking QPR defender Conor Masterson on loan.

Masterson, who turns 23 next month, joined Swindon in January in loan move Warburton regarded as vital for Masterson’s development.

But his time at the County Ground was cut short by a hamstring tear after he had made just five appearances for the Robins.

He has now recovered and Rangers are keen for him to play more first-team football.

“There’s interest in Conor,” said Warburton.

Masterson is being lined up for a loan move

“He’s done well for us at Championship level and if he goes out on loan it’s got to be the right move for his development.

“Clubs are well aware of Conor. Les (Ferdinand) will work on the right move.

"It has to be right - you don’t just send a player out willy-nilly. You have to make sure it’ll be right for his career development path.

“If that opportunity arises for Conor then we’ll take it. If not then we’re very happy to have him here.”
