QPR scored twice in the final minute of injury time to rescue a point in dramatic fashion against Brentford. Here’s how we rated the players in the 2-2 draw at Loftus Road.

QPR

Alex Smithies: 9

Rangers would surely have been dead and buried but for a trio of excellent stops by Smithies – the best of them an athletic save early on, when he flung his arm across to claw a Sergi Canos shot behind.

Jordan Cousins: 6

Cousins battled well on the right and, although he was often exposed in that makeshift role, he produced a vital block to foil Ollie Watkins when Rangers were trailing.

Alex Baptiste: 6

Looked solid in the first half, throwing himself into the path of a thunderous Andreas Bjelland shot, but he was nowhere near tight enough on Lasse Vibe for the Brentford striker’s opening goal.

Jack Robinson: 6

It was a game of two halves for Robinson, who produced two assured challenges to halt Vibe before the break – then let him escape for the second goal and also struggled against the lively Canos.

Jake Bidwell: 5

Predictably baited by the Brentford supporters, Bidwell’s positioning was often suspect and he got into a dreadful tangle at times when faced with Canos.

Luke Freeman: 7

As usual, Freeman scampered around the park, epitomising the fighting spirit that eventually shone through and it was fitting that he grabbed the equaliser deep into added time.

Josh Scowen: 7

Although he gave the ball away at times, Scowen won his fair share of challenges and almost set up a goal for Idrissa Sylla with his header on from a free-kick just after half-time.

Massimo Luongo: 6

A relatively quiet performance by Luongo’s standards. While his passing was tidy enough, he rarely looked like bringing the kind of influence to the game that he has done so often this season.

Jamie Mackie: 5

Largely ineffective on the left flank, Mackie should have done better than to fire the one chance that came his way over the bar and it was surprising he lasted into the final quarter of the game.

Idrissa Sylla: 8

Despite being Rangers’ most potent attacking threat, Sylla – who persistently made a nuisance of himself and hit the bar with a glancing header – was surprisingly withdrawn early in the second half.

Conor Washington: 6

Although Washington failed to get much change out of John Egan, he worked hard, did his best to link up the play and tested Bees goalkeeper Dan Bentley with a shot from distance.

Matt Smith: 7

The big centre-forward, who replaced Sylla just before the hour mark, played a key role in Rangers’ dramatic late comeback by heading their first goal and setting up Freeman’s equaliser.

Kazenga Lua Lua: 6

The winger, who came on in place of Mackie for the last 20 minutes, flickered in patches, but overall he had few opportunities to shine.

Pawel Wszolek: 6

The Polish wide-man was given the final 20 minutes or so and produced one incisive run and cross that ultimately foundered with nobody in place to finish it off.

Brentford

Dan Bentley: 6

A competent display, dealing with, numerous high balls until he misjudged one which allowed QPR to get back into the game in added on time.

Josh Clarke: 6

Did his job at right-back without showing the attacking threat he did on his previous visit to Loftus Road.

Andreas Bjelland: 7

Produced several important clearances when QPR put the Bees defence under pressure midway through the second half.

John Egan: 6

Stood firm alongside Bjelland when QPR were pressing hard to get back into game during the second half but was found wanting for the equaliser.

Yoann Barbet: 6

Showed his class when he curled a free-kick just over the bar and executed a trademark 40-yard pass through the middle to set up Nico Yennaris.

Florian Jozefzoon: 6

Produced a couple of useful crosses from the right before limping off on the half-hour mark with what looked like a hamstring injury.

Nico Yennaris: 7

Always lively. Picked out Vibe in the build-up to Brentford’s opener and nearly doubled the lead himself shortly after.

Kamehelo Mokotjo: 6

Had a steady game. Showed good strength during the first half to hold off a defender and set up a chance for Canos.

Ryan Woods: 7

Worked tirelessly in the heart of Brentford’s midfield to frustrate the home side.

Lasse Vibe: 8

Great control and shot on the turn to put the Bees ahead. Added the second with a cool finish to double the visitors’ lead.

Sergi Canos: 9

A man-of-the-match display from the Spaniard, who displayed several moments of great quality. Denied a goal in the first half by a wonderful one-handed save from Smithies.

Ollie Watkins: 6

Had three shots on goal during his extended cameo, including one when he hit the side netting early in the second half.

Romaine Sawyers: 6

Made an impact after coming on, teeing up Vibe for Brentford’s second goal.
