Brentford-based volleyball club London IBB Polonia are aiming to break the attendance record for a league match in England when they take on Wessex on Saturday.

The men’s team have won their opening two matches in the Super 8 season and sit third, one place above Wessex.

Women’s Super 8 team London SideOut Polonia will also be in action against Wessex at 1pm, with the men’s game starting at 3pm.

Many fans will be in Hallowe’en-style fancy dress and the entire proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the charity Action For Kids.

Bartek Luszcz, London IBB Polonia’s chairman, said: “We want to win Saturday’s meeting and we intend to beat the record turnout for a league volleyball match in England, so we are inviting everyone who wants to familiarise themselves with volleyball in the UK.

“Let it be a good opportunity to have fun for entire families.”

The action takes place at the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and spectators who register via the Eventbrite website can get in for free. Otherwise, tickets on the door cost £3.
