Ickenham’s Jordanne Whiley is celebrating another addition to her burgeoning trophy cabinet after success at the Belgian Open.
Whiley clinched her sixth women’s doubles crown of 2015 as she partnered South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane to victory at the ITF 1 Series tournament.
The top seeds had a comfortable path to the final but were made to grind out victory in the showpiece in a champions tie-break, eventually running out 5-7, 6-1, (11-9) winners.
Whiley also reached the final in the singles where she faced Aniek van Koot, whom she beat to win her maiden Super Series singles crown at the British Open last month.
But this time the Dutchwoman proved too strong over three sets and prevailed 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Eastcote’s Andy Lapthorne also reached a doubles title as he teamed up with fellow Brit Jamie Burdekin to take on three-time Paralympic champions Nick Taylor and David Wagner, only to lose 6-4 6-3.
