Jordanne Whiley made the second Super Series singles final of her career on Friday as she beat world number one Jiske Griffioen in the semis of the British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships.
And there was more success for west London as Eastcote’s Andy Lapthorne reached the quad doubles final with his partner Jamie Burdekin.
World number four and defending British Open champion Whiley fought back from a set down in her match, to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
She will now meet world number three Aniek van Koot in repeat of last year’s final.
“Playing Jiske is always tough and it was windy which made it difficult,” said Whiley.
“I’m so glad I was able to fight back after losing the first set.”
Lapthorne and Burdekin, last year’s quad doubles runners-up, will get a chance to go one better after beating Lucas Sithole and Greg Hasterok 6-4, 6-2.
They will face the American pairing of David Wagner and Bryan Barten in the final.
However it wasn’t such a good day for Lapthorne in the singles, as he saw his hopes of a third successive British Open quad singles final end with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat to David Wagner.
