Wheelchair tennis star Whiley made MBE
Ickenham-based wheelchair tennis star Jordanne Whiley has been appointed an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
Whiley, 22, won all four grand slam doubles titles in 2014 and made it five in a row when she and partner Yui Kamiji won the Australian Open in January.
Their attempt to make it six ended in defeat at the French Open final last month.
Whiley, who also won bronze at the 2012 London Paralympic Games, said she was “so honoured”.
I am so honoured to tell you all that I have been awarded an MBE… I can’t believe it! #speechless #grateful 🙉🇬🇧
