Murray wins Battle of Britain at Queen’s

Andy Murray won the all-British battle against 21-year-old Kyle Edmund at Queen’s Club to reach the semi-finals of the Aegon Championships.

The four-time champion was made to work for his victory, though, as his Davis Cup team-mate Edmund broke serve three times during the match.

Murray won the first set but Edmund – the world number 85 – hit back to level by taking the second, with some strong forehands and neat volleys.

However, the class and experience of the Scot showed in the decider as he cruised to a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory.

Murray will play Marin Cilic in the last four, after the 2012 champion defeated American Steve Johnson.

Third seed Milos Raonic will play Bernard Tomic in the other semi-final.

Raonic beat Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-1, 6-4 while Tomic needed three sets to overcome Luxembourg veteran Gilles Muller.
