Nerveless Gould edges through in Welsh Open
Martin Gould completed his second final-frame victory in just over 12 hours to move in to the fourth round of the Welsh Open.
Gould edged out Jack Lisowski 4-3 in Cardiff late on Tuesday night and, despite the rapid turnaround, the world number 15 saw off Welshman Matthew Stevens by the same scoreline on Wednesday.
The Pinner Potter led 1-0, but two half-centuries from the former UK Championship and Masters winner and two-time World Championship runner-up saw the veteran cueman lead 2-1.
Gould won two of the next three and scored a classy century in the final frame to set up a last-16 meeting with either Ben Woollaston or Anthony Hamilton.
Gould, who won his first ranking title earlier this month, at the German Masters, beat amateur Adam Duffy in the first round.
