Martin Gould’s run at the Betway Snooker Shootout in Blackpool ended at the last 16-stage with defeat against former world champion Shaun Murphy.
Murphy hit a superb 105 in the one-frame knockout to end the Pinner potter’s hopes of repeating his tournament victory of 2013.
Gould had earned his place in the latter stages of the event with wins over David Gilbert and Rory McLeod, scoring a stunning century of his own in the second-round victory against McLeod.
The Snooker Shootout, revived in 2011, is a cross between the Pot Black and Big Break TV shows, with each match decided by a 10-minute frame, with a shot clock regulating the action.
Players wear short-sleeved shirts with their names on the back and the crowd are welcome to call out between shots.
