Martin Gould missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Gdynia Open in Poland, suffering a 4-2 defeat against Jimmy Robertson.
World number 24 Gould had moved in to the last 16 in impressive fashion, with wins over Gerard Greene, Fergal O’Brien and Mitchell Travis on Friday.
But the 33-year-old from Pinner was unable to find his best form on Sunday, despite taking a 2-1 lead.
World number 46 Robertson hit a break of 66 to go ahead before Gould fought back in two scrappy frames that followed.
But Robertson levelled the scores at 2-2, took the fifth frame with his second break of 60-plus (68) and closed out victory in a tight sixth frame.
