Martin Gould lost a thrilling final-frame match against world champion Stuart Bingham in the the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters.
World number 27 Gould won the opening frame with a break of 59.
And although that was the Pinner potter’s only half-century in the match, some impressive matchplay helped him establish leads of 3-1 and 4-2.
But fellow SightRight player Bingham showed his class to win three frames in a row, including a match-clinching 60 to close out the 5-4 victory and set up a semi-final meeting with Judd Trump.
Gould had beaten Barry Hawkins and John Higgins to reach the last eight.
