Martin Gould secured a superb 4-2 win over world number one Mark Selby to reach the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix in north Wales.
Gould trailed the current world champion 1-0 after the Leicester man’s fine 88 in the first frame.
But Gould was in dominant form thereafter, with a top break of 113 in the third frame helping him take a 3-1 advantage.
Another 80 from Selby made it 3-2 but a confident Gould closed out victory in the sixth frame.
The Pinner potter, who faces Peter Ebdon in his last-eight match on Friday, said: “It’s a great result and now I’ve got to produce that again in my next match.
“I never worry about who I’m playing, I just go out there raring to go and do my job.”
World number 24 Gould, 33, had beaten Alan McManus 4-1 in the first round.
